2016: A Rollercoaster Ride

Another year has come and gone and as usual there has been something exciting that has happened.

For me it was a bit of a rollercoaster starting off on such a bright note and ending up crashing and burning had my start-up business in content marketing start, but never building up and eventually collapsing, managed to become a Marketing Coordinator of a rapidly growing childcare company only to have my contract end and of course a few hilarious dating mishaps.

Would I say that this year has been an overwhelming success? Certainly not and I have to admit the last three weeks of scrounging for change, looking at the long list of bills to pay and hoping that some employer would say something along the lines of:

"Deniro, congratulations we would like to offer you the position of Social Media Marketer/Marketing Coordinator/Potato Peeler with company xyz."

Would make for an amazing Christmas present! But, like most things in life it does not always pan out this way. Despite this I have certainly learnt a few harsh lessons from this year which are:

1. Take your chances

You are probably thinking, "Why should I be listening to a guy with $3.93 in his bank account (I'm not joking), a failed business and a history of failed relationships?"

Good question, so I have grabbed a quote from Michael Jordan as a reference:

" I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed"

Success does not come out of the blue, no matter where your focus is in life to become successful you have to take calculated risks and sometimes you will fail. But, the reason why you succeed is because you continue to learn from your failures (hopefully).

2. Keep learning

Whether it is through other people, textbook or your own personal experiences keep finding ways to become a better person. If you are not learning, you are not growing.

3. Have a Plan

I cannot stress this enough (and really wished I had followed through with this sooner), have some sort of plan that you want to achieve in five years and a contingency plan. Not all plans will work, so having a backup plan is better than none at all.

4. Stay Consistent

Another one which I am just starting to follow through, if you are going to accomplish your goals, you need to stay consistent. This may mean certain things in your life will have to be put aside, but if you do manage to stay consistent throughout your plans, you will come out much more secure than if you did not.

As I am blogging I figure I'm going to add some old entries. I really hope that people can relate to these in some fashion and know it's actually okay to constantly fail in your attempts of achieving your goal in life, true failure is doing nothing.

Ciao for now!
